8610 scanning from document feeder

Asked by Ish Kibib

I am trying to scan several pages that I placed in the document feeder. However, the HPLIP software seems to scan from the flatbed by default and I see no way to change this. If there is some sort of "self-sensing" technology, this also does not work because when I have a document loaded into the feeder and nothing in the flatbed, the device scans a blank page (trying to scan what's in the flatbed).

Hi,

Can you please share the details of the device and application used for scanning?
Meanwhile, If you are scanning from xsane, then choose scan source option as Flatbed or ADF.
If you are scanning from the command line, use 'hp-scan --adf' command to use adf.

Thanks,
Shivani

The device is an HP 8610e.
I am using HPLIP Toolbox. Can scanning from the feeder be done with this software?

Hi,

If you are using hp-toolbox, it will open xsane application only.
Through that you can select source as ADF or Flatbed.
