Problems installing drivers on Devuan

Asked by Guillermo Monteforte

Hello. I'm totally new at this, so I hope you will be patient with me.
This is what I have:
HP Laptop Elite Book, I5 processor, Devuan system, Etertics distribution

I have been trying to install several printers (most of them HP) and the driver is recognixed in my printer administrator, but when I select it to print, nothing happens. A trouble-shooting application shows up, takes me through a few steps, and concludes that it cannot solve the problem.

Still not very good at managing command lines. Hovever, folowing indications on your website, I ran 'hp-check -t' and got this.

Please tell me what I need to do. THANK YOU.

 root@etertics:/home/guillermo# hp-check -t

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Hi,

Devuan system is not supported in HPLIP. Hence you are seeing this behavior.
Please install any supported OS from HP developers portal and use the printer.
You can download the latest HPLIP driver from below link:

https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing

Thanks,
Shivani

Thank you Shivani, for your clear answer. I will keep looking for drivers that will work on my OS. Wish me luck!
