Printer is printing everything with a blue background

Asked by Jamie Hughes

My HP Photosmart C7250 was working perfectly until today. Now, everything I print from my computer (running Ubuntu 18.10) comes out with a blue/cyan background. I attempted printing black-text-only documents from Libreoffice and a picture from the default image viewer app. I'm pretty sure this is a driver issue on the computer's end because when I printed a photo from the printer's built-in SD card port, it came out on photo paper without the blue background. I attempted to resolve the issue by rebooting the printer, rebooting the computer, reinstalling the drivers in both the HPLIP toolbox and Ubuntu's printer manager, reinstalling HPLIP itself, and running a cleaning cycle on the printer. Nothing worked.

I am hit by the same bug, it shows since updating Ubuntu 16.04 today. I verified printing before and after update (2. PC).
I suspect one of the ghostscript packages.
Printing with black only setting works ok.

After downgrading the four packages (ghostscript, ghostscript-x, libgs9, libgs9-common) from 9.26 to 9.18 printing is back to normal without blue blackground.
