Still trying to get printer connected to Raspberry PI

Asked by Michael Dmytrasz

I have tried for weeks to get my HP 3630 Deskjet printer to print from my Raspberry PI computer. I have tried a lot of the things you have listed on your website to no avail. I am not a linux geek by any stretch but I have worked with many computer configurations starting in 1974 with CPM machines and S-100 bus. It seems that information is lacking such as what directory software needs to be in to operate properly. The HPLIP software downloaded to the Download directory. Second I am operating a Debian version of linux and your download is for Ubuntu Linux. I have worked through a lot of the problems I have come across but have not gotten a clean build yet.
All I want is to get a driver that CUPS will recognize so I can print from my Raspberry PI. What might you be able to help me with. I seem to be missing something in the translations.
A loyal customer for many years and many different HP printers in the past 35 years or so.
