Version: 3.18.9 download and instructions incorrect

Asked by Karie Cook

When I download the Version: 3.18.9 for printing and imaging, it downloads an rpm file not a run file. The instructions say it should be a run file. I extracted the rpm file, but cannot find a run file anywhere. The screen shots in the instructions also say the file name is hplip-3.17.10.run and they say to enter the command as shown following the $ which is not correct.

Please help.

Hi,
You need to select the distro in the drop down list for downloading the file in .run for the distro you need. .rpm file format is for RHEL.

OK. I am running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. So for the distros I selected Red hat Enterprise Linux. Selected 7 for version then selected Full Package.

So from your answer I guess I will only get an rpm for RHEL V7. So where are the instructions for installing that? Am I missing something, is there another distro I should choose/ can you be more specific?

You can install the downloaded rpm file with below command:
su -c "rpm -Uvh --nodeps <rpm file>"

For the print functionality, we need to install the ‘setroubleshoot’ package before the hplip driver rpm installation.
Command: su -c “yum install setroubleshoot”

Can you help with this problem?
