connecting linux mint 17.3 to hp envy 5055 printer scanner

I have connected an HP Envy 5055 printer to my Linux Mint 17.3. Everything works fine except the computer gives me a message that it cannot find the printer's scanner. I am presently using Image Scan for Linux. Formerly my printer was an Epson and worked okay on scanning. I am using a USB cable rather than wi-fi.
