Installing HPLIP on Raspberry pi wont accept superuser password

Asked by David Hickey

Downloaded hplip-3.18.7.run. Executing in the terminal gets to the step asking for password but won't accept it.

Tried changing the password and rebooting. Tried changing the password in the Terminal and rebooting. Each time run out of attempts and have to use the "sh hplip-3.18.7.run" command again. Can't progress beyond the password question.

Hi,
Can you mention the OS installed (name and version) in the Raspberry pi device? Hope you are entering the correct password in the terminal.

Thanks,

Exit the hplip script and return to a terminal prompt.
Type: sudo passwd root
Type in the new password for root as prompted

Re-run the hplip script and when prompted, enter your chosen root password.
