OfficeJet Pro 8710 Ink Cartridge Problem

My HP OfficeJet Pro will not allow me to use 3rd party ink cartridges. I know some firmware probably caused this, and I know it's not the first time HP has tried to lock out 3rd party cartridges. I find many articles that point to an update in the firmware that should fix this, but it only seems to be for Windows. Has anyone heard of this problem on this printer or any other printer? Is there an update for Linux? I am using Ubuntu 18.04.

It is recommended to use the Genuine HP cartridges for HP printers. You need to contact the product support team for help on this query as this forum is primarily for addressing the queries related to the HPLIP driver.
