Install HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2675 on laptrop using Linux Debian

Asked by Andrew Page

I bought a new printer HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2675. It is installed on my home network. My laptop using Linux Debian doesn't show it even after I click "add printer" and it identifies the URL. How can I use the printer from my laptop?

Hi Andrew,
Please share the Debian version along with the HPLIP driver version you are using for setting up the device. Did you notice any errors during the driver installation?

Thanks,
Badal Kumar

I'm not very computer literate so I'll give you the following info to chose from:
Kernel LINUX 3.16.0.5 amd64 (x86_64)
Compiled #1 SMP Debian 3.16.51.3+deb8u1(2018-01.08)
Default C
Compiler GNU C Compiler version 4.9.2(Debian4.9.2-10+deb8u1)
Distribution LMDE 2 Betsy

HPLIP hplip-3.16.7

I hope you can find the requested info among this.

Incidentally I followed Manfred's link and opened a terminal. I entered all the appropriate lines and was doing well with the installation until I was asked to enter the user (sudoer) password. I tried to do so but as I typed it in nothing appeared on the screen, just the cursor blinking. I haven't been able to get further than this so the installation hasn happened so far.

Any suggestion welcomed
