Installation on RHEL 5.3 for L7680

Asked by MichaelE

I am trying to install this printer for RHEL 5.3. After running the installer and saying "yes" to all options other that Qt4, I get the following error:

>> INSTALL MISSING REQUIRED DEPENDENCIES
>> -------------------------------------
>> warning: There are 6 missing REQUIRED dependencies.
>> note: Installation of dependencies requires an active internet connection.
>> warning: Missing REQUIRED dependency: gcc (gcc - GNU Project C and C++ Compiler)
>> warning: This installer cannot install 'gcc' for your distro/OS and/or version.
>> error: Installation cannot continue without this dependency. Please manually install this dependency and re-run this >> installer.

I have gcc installed. Here are the installed packages:

>> compat-gcc-34-g77-3.4.6-4
>> libgcc-4.1.2-44.el5
>> gcc-4.1.2-44.el5
>> compat-gcc-34-3.4.6-4
>> opera-9.64-2480.gcc4.shared.qt3
>> compat-libgcc-296-2.96-138
>> compat-gcc-34-c++-3.4.6-4

When I run ./configure, I get the following error:

>> configure: error: "cannot find libjpeg support"

I have the following libjeg package installed:

>> libjpeg-6b-37

I don't know if libjpeg-devel is needed, but Red Hat does not have a version for RHEL 5.

Since there have been other issues related to this printer/distro, I followed the instructions related to RHEL but it does not work. Some of the packages do not exist for RHEL 5.

Thanks for the help.

libjpeg-devel is needed and it should be on the CD set--although I don't have the specific CD number.

I'll be working on updating the manual install instructions for RHEL5.

Hope this helps.
