HP Designjet T7200 non-postscript plotter

Asked by Sonia

HEllo team,

I have a plotter HP Designjet T7200 which supports languages : HP-GL/2, HP-RTL, CALS G4.
It does not have the postscript upgrade kit installed and hence postscript driver for this model cannot be used. could you please suggest any alternative driver which i can use to send prints to this plotter. Any driver that supports any of these languages and any universal driver available for CUPS ?

Regards,
Sonia

Hi Sonia,

Did you install HPLIP driver?

Please install and try printing. To install HPLIP driver please follow the below steps:
Goto https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/gethplip and download and install the latest driver.
Let me know if any issues.

Thanks,
Srinivas Teja.

Hi Srinivas,

As I mentioned before, plotter is not capable of using postscript driver. As far as I know HPLIP only has support for postscript plotter. I have 3.18.6 HPLIP version installed on CUPS.
Do you know any driver which can support languages : HP-GL/2, HP-RTL, CALS G4.

Regards,
Sonia

Hi Sonia,

Yes HPLIP has only postscript driver and can support only postscript languages. With the PostScript/PDF Upgrade Kit, you can use HP DesignJet Universal Print Driver for PS.
Iam not sure about other drivers which can support languages : HP-GL/2, HP-RTL.

Thanks,
Srinivas Teja.
