HPLIP 3.18.6 no GUI

Asked by Paul Emony

My HP scanner didn't work and I fixed it by replacing the installed HPlip with 3.18.6 from here:

https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/gethplip

which cured the problem but it doesn't show up in Synaptic nor in Menu so there's no GUI to control it, how to install the GUI?

Hi,

Please download the latest HPLIP version(3.18.6) and run the below command to install in any linux machine.
sh hplip-3.18.6.run

Please install the plugin also. To install plugin please run the following command.
hp-plugin

For the GUI for HPLIP driver please run hp-toolbox, which will display a GUI and all the control over printer are present over there.

Thanks,

I was looking for 'HP Toolbox' which is what it was called in my original installation but of course it's now 'Device Manager', I had it already!
