MFP M227fdw lost feature of duplex - 2 sided printing

After each update or reinstallation of Linux HP Device Manager, I find that features are missing and too difficult to fix. Currently that is fixing the lack of duplex printing.

I've now spent an hour online, looking for why the duplexing feature is missing, again. To reproduce this problem would require uninstalling all the software drivers from HP. Reinstalling and then trying to duplex print.

This is Ubuntu 16.04

Printer is: HP LaserJet Pro, model MFP-M227fdw.
