HPLIP not presenting all needed options LJ 1200

Asked by Jason Nash

I haven't been able to find a PPD that will allow me to change the print density/fuser heat. This is necessary to print heavy paper, envelopes, and especially labels. The print comes out looking washed out, whereas on XP (yeah, ancient) I had the ability to set the fuser heat appropriately. Am I just not digging deep enuf? Does anyone know of ANY software (for linux/Debian) that would allow me to make these adjustments?

Secondary - The option to print only odd or even pages, either in order or reverse order is also "missing". That would be sweet if anyone can point me in the direction.

Thanks much,
Jason

Hi Jason,

LJ 1200 device has not been supported by HPLIP yet. That is why you are seeing the PPD for this printer. You can see the supported printers from the following link:

Thanks,

LJ1220se - which is essentially the same printer, and IS supported - also doesn't present paper type / thickness / fuser temperature options either. This seems to be missing from the driver. Any suggestion as to how the PPD could be modified?

Related question: https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/195051 in which the solution is the addition of something like:

 *OpenUI *MediaType/Media Type: PickOne
 *OrderDependency: 10 AnySetup *MediaType
 *DefaultMediaType: Plain
 *MediaType Plain/Plain Paper: "<</MediaType(Plain)/cupsMediaType 0>>setpagedevice"
 *MediaType Glossy/Photo Paper: "<</MediaType(Glossy)/cupsMediaType 3>>setpagedevice"
 *MediaType Glossy1/Photo Paper 220g: "<</MediaType(Glossy220g)/cupsMediaType 8>>setpagedevice"
 *CloseUI: *MediaType

Looking though hpcups.drv I also see no fewer than 59 different MediaType() entries (names, not numbers) so it's a bit of a guessing game without some hard values. Does anyone know how to figure these out?

Can you help with this problem?
