Ubuntu Server 18.04 Support

Asked by Nathan Smith

What is the plan for Ubuntu 18.04 Server support with HPLIP?

The hplip-3.18.3 installed (Server 18.04 beta2) but the Python-imaging package was not installed on 18.04.

HPLIP seems to run but I get an error in systemtray.py n.show() line 795 when running hp-setup or lpr from the bash command line. Its not clear what I can comment out of the systemtray.py script to avoid this. I'm not sure what I can remove in systemtray.py to get around this for now.

Or maybe there is a different path for installation / configuration I need to take?

Hi Nathan smith,

Support for ubuntu 18.04 is not available in hplip-3.18.3 , we are going to add ubuntu 18.04 version support in the upcoming build.

Thanks

Thanks for the update. Is there a roadmap or schedule yet for this? I understand this would be dependent on the condition of the April 26th planned release of the LTS release being on time.

Hi Nathan,

The plan is to support the final Beta version of 18.04 in the April month release. Ideally their wont be a major design changes happening between the final Beta and the final release. Post the beta version support release in April the final ISO support will be made available in the May month release.

Thanks
Pranavateja
