Cannot install CP1025 LaserJet on Ubuntu 17.10

Asked by Homatidis Dimitris

I have installed hplip first time and worked. Then I saw it decompressed all files in /Downloads and I uninstalled.
Tried to install again in another directory with sh hplip-3.17.11.run
System is unable to detect printer during last stage of installation.

Tried the manual way but the device name I use, based on example must be wrong i.e.
hp:/usb/hp_laserjet_cp1025?serial=CNF6B52215
I get the message:
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/hp_laserjet_cp1025?serial=CNF6B52215
error: Device not found
error: Communication status: Failed

What is the correct name of the device, provided that the serial no is ok?

If this is not a correct approach, how do I completely remove anything related to the initial hplip installation trials so that I start clean and get it right?

Please help,
Mits

Hi Homatidis,

HP_laserjet_cp1025 is the correct model name of this printer series. Were you able to connect the printer through network? Please do mention which distro you are using for this printer setup and the output of the hp-check -t for our further analysis.

Thanks,
Nishitha

Hi Nishitha,

I reconnected the printer today and all worked fine. The computer recognised the printer by itself through the usb and automatically got the name: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_CP_1025?serial=0W025DMCPR1a

I will need no further assistance with this.
Thank you very much for your immediate response.

Regards,
Homatidis
