Printer is not found on the network

Asked by caramelleamare

I have installed hplip dirver 3.17 and printer works with USB connection.

Then I try to configure the same printer(Laserjet p1102w) as a wireless printer. Doing that I select the third option(wireless/802.11) on the tool manager, and everything seems to be fine, but if I look at the devices connected entering router control panel, I can't find the printer.

Therefore when I try to complete the procedure to install the printer as a wireless printer, I select the second option (ethernet/wireless etc), but the printer is not found in the net.

Any solution?

Hi caramelleamare,

For installing the printers through wireless network both the printer and Linux system should be in same network. It will automatically show the printer name in the printer list and you can select the "Network/Ethernet/Wireless network" option to add the printer. Please refer the below links from the HPLIP website which explains the steps to configure the printer for wireless.

https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/howtos/other
https://developers.hp.com/hp-linux-imaging-and-printing/WirelessSetupOfNonControlPanelDevice.html

Please try this and let us know if you still face issues in setting up the printer for wireless mode.

Thanks,
Badal Kumar

Thanks, I simply didn't see the printer's ip address at the end of the first step of the procedure and, therefore, I didn't know how to reach the printer in the net. Now it's ok.

Really thanks.
