Officejet 6600 Scanning Fails in Fedora 27

Asked by Anthony Stauss

I recently installed the Fedora Design Suite Distro, Version 27. The printing on my Officejet 6600 works, but the scanner, either using Simple Scan or Xsane, does not (scanner is not found). I have run hp-check -t, and found:
HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 3.17.11)
Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 15.1

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Done.

Above includes fewer dependency errors than the hp-check I ran before because I installed, or at least attempted to install some of them. However, on some trials the packages could not be found, or on some others, the installations completed, but the dependencies are still not reported here.

Suggestions on how I can get my scanner to work? Many thanks!

I forgot to mention that I am using the Officejet 6600 as a network device utilizing WiFi.

Hi Anthony,

Fedora 27 is not yet supported by HPLIP , so some functionalities might fail . Please use any previous versions of Fedora .

Fedora 27 will be supported by HPLIP in the future release.

Thanks,
Afshan
