HPLIP Scan plugin cannot be downloaded m175nw

Asked by Sandor

Printer: HP mfp m175nw
ubuntu 17.10

I have tried to install my printer on ubuntu. The printer is already installed on the network by windows and its driver, however I would like to use hplip toolbox to show printer, and that requires installation. Software can see the printer but scan utility driver cannot be installed. Checksum problem.

I have tried to manually (command line) run the self extracting plugin and it comes up with a problem of "command not found, python, line 15".

When I choose the run file in GUI then cannot go to the next screen (probably I should use plugin file not run file, but I cannot see any m175nw plugin file).

HP check -t gives a lot of missing packages however hplip seem to be correctly installed. --fix-missing --fix-broken does nothing.
hp scan -g not a big help either.

Everything is complaining about checksum problem.
is there a way to force install?

HPLIP team really should sort this checksum problem.

Question:
what can I do?
Can I download an actual plugin file that can be installed by GUI?

thanks

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies

Ubuntu 17.10 is not yet supported. It would be supported in future releases.

Any idea when this release will be Shivani? It seems the only problem is with the libcripto package. It doesn't seem it would be too had to update the version requirement from whatever you're currently looking for to 5.6.4-8 that Ubuntu now uses.

I don't know how or why but today I could install printer and auto-download scan driver without any problem on ubuntu 17.10.
So if it stays like that for me this problem is solved.
