HPLIP

Asked by Joseph Florio

I am using Linux Mint 17.3 OS, I have HPLIP 3.17.6 installed for the MFP HP 477 fdn. When I try to scan using xsane at first it worked and was able to save to a file, but now without changing anything I get error messages saying that I need permission to save to a file. I don't understand that because I made no changes, and it seems that something has changed the settings but I can not find anything wrong. If you know what that could be please let me know.

I also had an old HP 1018 Laserjet installed prior to this HP MFP printer & it worked fine, but when I was installing the 3.17.6 driver for the new printer, a message came up saying that I could have a conflict with the two drivers, so it suggested that I remove the old one and install the new one, so I did, now the old HP printer doesn't work.
Do you think there could be some leftover software from the previous driver, causing a conflict on these two drivers even though the computer removed the old one?
Please let me know.

Thanks,

I guess I'll wait by my computer for an answer to fix this bug, we don't like bugs especially the ones we can't squash.
