backwards compatible with j6450

Asked by gobo7

for quite some time i have used the j6450/6480 printers
as mostly document scanners. the flatbed for small pages
a the adf for letter size. over this time a fair number of
scripts have been written and all make use of the sane
scanimage utility. (i do not use xsane.)

a few years ago, i attempted to replace a j6450 with an
8600 series model. the adf would not work with any of
the scripts as any read caused it to pull anything in
adf through. at that time there was not a way to make
it pull only one page at a time.

so my question is -- are any of the current line of
oj printers (supported by hplip) backwards compatible
with the j6450/6480? or the ability to have the adf
only pull one page at a time?

thanks in advance.

ps: primary os is kubuntu 14.04 x64 with hplip
3.14.3-0ubuntu3.4
