Laserjet 3300: how to scan in Ubuntu?

Asked by Jost

Hi everybody!

I have my HP Laserjet 3300 connected via USB to my Ubuntu Pc, and I don't manage to scan. I installed HPLIB toolbox and all components that come along with it, and this enables printing (slow, but ok!). I also installed XSane
and gscan2pdf, but none of them finds a scanner device :-(
The Laserjet itelf says "not configuered to PC" when I press "Scan to PC" or simular.

Would be great if you could help me to make some progress with this issue...

Thanks,
jost

Jost,

The "Scan to PC" functionality is not supported by HPLIP at this time.

To scan you'll want to use xsane directly.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your support of HPLIP.

Hi Aaron,

thanks for your advice, but Xsane -as I said - doesn't find the device.

Well, NOW that I start Xsane again (just to see the exact error-message), XSane actually finds the printer (for the first time)! God knows why...! So, the problem solved itself.

Thank you very much.
