Hi,

Use hp-toolbox to open HP Device Manager.

In HP Device Manager->Printer Control->Stop Printer

Hope this will solve the problem.

Regards,
Ajay

Remark: Are you aware that Ubuntu has ended supporting its 12.04 release two weeks ago?
You should consider upgrading to a current Ubuntu release, e.g. 16.04 with an end of life date in April 2021.
