hplip on Fedora 25 does not recognise HP1018

I have had hplip working satisfactorily on previous versions of Fedora Linux but after about Fedora 20 It apparently installs but stubbornly will not recognise my HP1018 printer (USB-connected) . I do try it by re-installing from time to time but on the final stage of the installation process (which is very lengthy!) it cannot find the printer (which works satisfactorily on Windows from XP to 10) but now I'm about fed up with trying; I on the wrong side of age 75 - any chance of getting it work in my remaining lifetime?
