Centos 5.2 Enterprise - warning: python-dbus not installed. (Even thou in Package manager Python-dbus is TICKED for installed)

How were you attempting to install the printer?

Did you plug it in and then go to the <system - Admin - Printing> dialog? or did you download the required HPLIP and compile / install from that?

I recently (about 2 hours ago) installed an old HP 845C printer. On the first attempt it installed, but printed "junk" ascii characters rather than the "normal" test page.

I then removed an re-installed trying the next print driver option in the list, and it worked (Please bear in mind the first option was the "recomended") - should I report that as a bug?

Otherwise it looks as though you are going to need to install the required dependencies.
I did a quick hunt, and found the project home page (note that if you try http://hplipopensoure.com nothing happens!)

I've tried to navigate to their Howto's and FAQ's sub pages, but no luck!

Maybee one of the project members will see this and be able to "repair" their website also!?

The printer is installed on a network Windows XP pc and shared.

I cant even get the program to open in X because it fails before then.
Telling me the python-dbus is not installed even tho their own
check program passes python-dbus ! Very odd........

It looks like you are running python-dbus version 0.70, and version 0.80 or
later is required.
