Canon MF729cdw will not accept drivers in Linux Mint 17.3
I have tried and tried to get the driver (330Linux_UFRII) I found for Canon to load, but all I get is a Syntax error message that says "Not Found". I'm not sure this computer has cups, but it has to because I did manage to get the HLIP software to work for my HP laserjet 1018 to work, but that's just black ink, the canon is full color, but it's useless except for a heavy door stop it will have no use in Linux Mint OS. I hate the idea of going back to Microsoft or Mac, but I may have no choice.
I have no idea why the Linux developers put this OS out there without drivers, how were they to expect small businesses to print anything if these drivers are useless?
If they really want my opinion as to what I think should happen, or what I think will happen, I have no idea. This OS is incomplete if their drivers don't work, and we have to use Microsoft based hardware, with Microsoft discs with drivers on them that refuse to load, so what are we supposed to think?
I know that Linux is a superior OS, much faster than MS, but the problem of getting hardware stuff to work is hair raising.
If everything you try to use works, Linux Mint would be the best OS you could wish for, or hope for, it's very similar to many MS programs, but that's the software end, I have found that the hardware is totally a different problem.
