cannot install HP f4224 all-in-one

Asked by EricZ

My f4224 scans but does not print!

At first I tried a normal install with the KDE printer manager - first problem NO f4224 in the drop down menu.

So I installed HPLIP with apt-get.
Still no luck with the printer manager.

Then I tried HP-setup from root terminal.
This worked halfway. Now it scans, but does not print.
It seems the choice of drivers is still not complete. f400 series is automatically offered as driver ...then (Y/N) enter etc.
Installation then runs its course with result OK.
But printer won't even print a test page. But Kooka and Xsane work perfectly.

Is the f4224 too new? will it ever be supported/integrated in HPLIP?

Any ideas how I can get it to work until then?

Thanks in advance,

E.

P.S. OH! I also installed HPIJS, but I think this was erroneous. Anyways, the situation already existed before installation and HPIJS had no effect.

P.P.S.
Sorry, forgot to mention:
I am running Sidux - a Debian based distro which uses "SID/unstable" version.
Also I use Puppy linux, but not even close - couldn't get hplip to install even with their native .pet package.

I'd say remove HPOJ for sure. and installed the latest HPLIP from our website. http://hplipopensource.com

More then likely that will resolve this problem.
