support for Scanjet G4050

Asked by pfelecan

I have a Scanjet G4050 that I used on MacOS/X
Having migrated to Linux I tried to use sane but it doesn't support this model.
I'm quite surprised that this model is not supported by hplip and wondering why standalone scanners aren't supported?
Is this due to change or we, owners of this kind of devices, are orphans?

The HP Linux Imaging and Printing project only supports HP printers and multifunction devices--in addition HPLIP only supports Linux systems. Mac OS X is not supported.

It appears that the Scanjet G4050 is not supported by the sane project.

http://www.sane-project.org/unsupported/hp-g4050.html

If does appear there is a driver for this device for the Mac:

Hope this helps.
