Status: scheduler is running
Version: 1.3.9
error_log is set to level: warn

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. But with this system I dual boot to Windows XP and when I print 4x6 photos from Windows the quality is extremely high, like what you'd get from a photo lab. From Linux it is much lower resolution, and there is noticible banding in the photos. For example in darker areas, like someone's dark hair, you can see very small bands and speckles. Same photo printed in Windows doesn't have this problem.
I'm using Gimp in Linux and I choose 1200 dpi and photo tray and photo paper. In Windows I just used IrFanView and the latest Photosmart drivers from HP's site. In the HP driver you just choose a profile, like "photo with borders" and it sets all the options for you. I noticed there are many other controls in the Windows driver that don't exist in the Linux version, like color and brightness controls.
Am I not supposed to print from Gimp? Am I supposed to be changing the settings in the toolbox? Thanks for any assistance.
