If set up faxing for this computer, will it change header information for all users of shared printer/fax

Asked by Patrick M

I share a fax/printer (HP7650) with other users. Other network users use separate computers. Other users' ID (sender) is listed when I open the "set up fax" utility for HPLIP. If I use HPLIP to set the fax settings from this computer will it change the header ID (Sender Id) for other users' as well?

If so is there a way I can use CLI to change the sender ID only when faxes are sent from this (Linux) pc?

Patrick,

The fax header will be changed it you change it in HPLIP. We don't currently have a tool to change the fax header information via the command line. However I've added this to our to do list and we'll be reviewing on possibly adding this in the future.

No promise..but we'll look into it.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP.

I think this answers my question, I can change the header, no problem. I was wondering if the chasnge is network wide, it seems so. I guess if I was going to assign this pc its own header code, it would be good to have it switch back to the default for the other network users.
