printer test page is misaligned

Asked by Andreas Herrmann

On my new HP Officejet Pro 6970
the HPLIP Printer Test Page is slightly misaligned.

The page is not centered horizontally:
On the left side there are about 1.5mm from the paper edge to the black frame,
and on the right side there are about 4.5mm from the paper edge to the black frame.

The page is also not aligned vertically:
On the top side there are about 5mm from the paper edge to the black frame,
on the bottom side the print is chopped of. The bottom frame is missing,
the inch marks are visible and there is a white region between them and the paper edge of about 2mm width.
It seems like about 1mm of the bottom part of the test page is missing.

I've repeatedly run the printer alignment procedure, where it prints out an alignment page and asks to print it afterwards.
That alignment page seems to be fine, the issue seems to be with hplip, not with the printer device.

I'm running hplip ver. 3.16.11 from the "Printer" repository on openSuse 13.2 x86_64.

How can I change the page alignment?

I've searched through the knowledge base, but couldn't find an answer to this question.
If there is one already, then please send me a link.

If it helps, I've uploaded a scan of the HPLIP test page and also of a print out of the following document: https://www.fileformat.info/tool/label/testpage/a4_p.pdf
under the following address:

I couldn't find any way to attach uploads to this report. I hope the link above is acceptable.
The upload claims to be valid for 30 days.
