Can't configure HP ENVY 5660 in Debian 8.7

Asked by Don Crowder

I bought a brand new HP ENVY 5660 but it won't configure on our Debian 8.7 systems. I'm using Xfce and my wife uses KDE. The configuration just crashes on my system but she gets an error message saying the driver isn't available. I tried installing a later version of hplip (by downloading hplip-3.16.11.run) but when I try to install it I get an error which says that a dependency is missing, specifically pyqt4-dbus. I checked in Synaptic and found that Python-pyqt4-dbus is installed

Here is the specific error I get:

error: A required dependency 'pyqt4-dbus (PyQt 4 DBus - DBus Support for PyQt4)' is still missing.
error: A required dependency 'pyqt4 (PyQt 4- Qt interface for Python (for Qt version 4.x))' is still missing.
error: Installation cannot continue without these dependencies.
error: Please manually install this dependency and re-run this installer.

Here's a shot of Synaptic, showing Python-pyqt4-dbus installed.

So, what am I doing wrong?
