Have to restart hp deskjet 3745 after lprm during print job

Asked by lupv

I am using Ubuntu 8.04, hp deskjet 3745. If I cancel a print job (with lprm) while the printer is printing, the paper stays in roller and the power light keeps flashing. I have to unplug the printer before can print again. In Windows if I can cancel a print job while it's printing, the paper gets rolled out completely and I can continue printing. Can I get the same thing going in ubuntu?

I'll have to try and reproduce this after the new year. Sorry for the delay.

I would still like to see how to fix this problem.

Sorry for the delay. I can reproduce this and it's a known condition.

Either the next print job should print correctly, or pressing the "delete" button on the printer should clear it out.

This condition is in our defect tracking and it's on our list to review in the future.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP--we appreciate it.

I can only resume printing by unplugging the printer. There is no delete button on the deskjet 3745.

Thanks.

I looked over the printer documentation and it appears that this device does not have a cancel button (as you are aware). So apparently the work around is to power cycle the printer.

Sorry for the inconvenience..
