HPLIP on acer aspire one linpus lite

Asked by Phil Millard

Hi

I have followed the "fixes" in the FAQs relating to HPlip and Linpus lite on the Acer aspire one but to no avail. Our deskject 5740 is detected by Linus straight off but will not print. I have installed libusb-devel as another post suggested then installed HPlip but the problem persists. We have two Acer ones and both have the same problem even after rebuilding to factory defaults using the rescue dvd.

Is there any fix for this or do we need to await a version thats supported by linpus lite?

Best regards

Phil

We are working on a possible solution for HPLIP on Linpus, however we wont have any more information unable after the new year.

I'll be updating the Linpus tickets once we have a solution.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for your support of HPLIP.

We are still working on the package--however we have made some good progress.

No promises..but the plan is to release a linpus package at the next release of HPLIP. I'll be updating all of the linpus tickets if/when this happens.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for your support of HPLIP.

We're recently released a package for the Acer Aspire One (Linpus) system. You can get more information about the package here:

http://hplipopensource.com/node/324

For instructions on downloading and installing go here:

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linpus.html

We appreciate any feedback and apologize for the delay in this solution.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP--we appreciate it.

The instructions in
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linpus.html
(which is referred to by http://hplipopensource.com/node/324 )
are a bit confusing:
Step 2 tells us to download the Linpus 9.5 HPLIP RPM. Steps 1 and 3, however, mention the Red Hat Enterprise 5 package.

I tried with the Linpus 9.5 RPM, and everything seemed fine, but the test page (A4) appeared reduced in the top left quarter of the page while the top right quarter was filled with a black rectangle with a gray stripe in the middle.

I've got an Acer AAO 110, Linpus Linux Lite v1.0.9.E, and HP F2280 printer.

Any ideas? I'll be trying rhel rpm next.

Hi João

I just followed the instructions as per http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/linpus.html and it worked first time. I had already installed libusb-devel detailed on another post ( https://answers.launchpad.net/hplip/+question/48001 ) so perhaps this was needed first. Good luck.
