finding a printer for a linux operating system

Asked by Jonye1971

Hi i have an eeepc netbook asus 901 which i have bought for my son. Its on the Linux system and i am desperate to find a printer to use with it that i dont have to mess about with too much to install and for him to use. It is a christmas present and so he will want it to use straight away.
I have been told that i must upgrade the OS toXP but i cant afford to do that as well. Surely there is a cheapish printer that i can get the drivers for and able to use on this.
Thanks

The Asus EEE PC does support HPLIP.

There are some steps to be completed but it's not terribly hard. You can start here:

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/manual/distros/eeepc.html

And if you encounter any errors or problems feel free to let me know.

Hope this helps and thanks for your support of HPLIP.

Aaron
