I am using hp 1020, on fedora 9.
Problem is if i switch off printer and then switch it on I can not print!
service cups restart does not help
hp-firmware does not work
the system needs to be restarted

After giving the following commands :
service cups stop
service cups start
hp-firmware
( service cups restart does not have any effect)
the firmware loads and the printer works!

It looks like the plug-in is not installed.

when ever the printer stops i have to re-run hp-plugin. The printer then works for a few days and then stops working until I run hp-plugin again.

Today the printer just did not work, so i ran hp-setup again after running hp-plugin. Following is output

Try following the steps on step 7 of this page:

Because this seems to be a permissions problem, and the steps on step 7 for mandriva should resolve it..
