Setting up an HP Deskjet 6980 - novive Linux user

Asked by Martin Turner

I am a complete novice when it comes to Linux. Have just purchased an Acer One Netbook with Linpus Linux Lite V1.0.7.E installed and really don't know where to start when it comes to installing a printer. The Linux sites I have looked at get technical within the first sentence, using jargon that I don't (yet?) understand and leaving me quite afraid! I want to install a wireless printer - the HP Deskjet 6980. The GUI (?) that the Acer has does not appear to let me through it to get to any programming (?) that I might have to do. Currently I am thinking myself around in circles. Any help or advice that can be given would be very gratefully received. Many thanks.

Martin,

We don't yet support HPLIP on Linpus. We are working through creating the install instructions and hope to have these completed in the near future.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP and sorry for any inconvenience.

We're recently released a package for the Acer Aspire One (Linpus) system. You can get more information about the package here:

http://hplipopensource.com/node/324

For instructions on downloading and installing go here:

We appreciate any feedback and apologize for the delay in this solution.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP--we appreciate it.
