Driver Linux HP Scanjet 4890

Asked by Ph. Jeanne

I have installed HP device manager on Ubuntu. But my scanner HP Scanjet 4890 is not recognized.
(Sane doesn't see it).
lsusb says :

Bus 001 Device 006: ID 03f0:1b05 Hewlett-Packard

What to do ?

Connect the printer to your computer. Switch on the printer and reinstall it. Did you read the readme.txt supplied with the driver properly?

Sorry, it's a scanner, not a printer.

HPLIP does not support ScanJet devices--however the sane project does support many ScanJet devices on Linux. Unfortunately the ScanJet 4890 is currently not supported.

http://www.sane-project.org/unsupported/hp-scanjet-4850.html

You may want to contact the sane project and see if they have a timeline for if/when support may be added in the future.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

You can go here to see a list of devices supported/not supported by the SANE project:

http://www.sane-project.org/sane-mfgs.html#Z-HEWLETT-PACKARD

You can go here to see a list of devices supported by HPLIP (HP multifunction devices--printer/scanners, etc.):

http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/supported_devices/index.html

Hope this helps.
