support or workaround for photosmart c6380?

Asked by john s

Hey-

Just bought a Photosmart c6380. I can get it to print over the network using CUPS with hp: protocol type, but when I try to add it to HPLIP toolbox I get the following error:

ERROR: no device found or unsupported device

Is there a plan to support this device?

Also, as a workaround can I create my own stanza in the models.dat file for it (probably based on the c6280)?

thanks for any help.

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Thanks, great news.

ive been able to get basic printing/scanning working through cups and sane, but it will be nice to have (semi) official support.

cheers,
john
