Can't print on custom paper size with HP Photosmart Pro B8350

I have to print a lot of long pdfs that are 30cm width and about 1m long. My problem is that my printer doesn't recognize when I set custom paper size in evince. The biggest pdf it can print is about A3, then it just cuts the rest of the image.

I've also tried:
lpr -P Photosmart_Pro_B8300_series -o PageSize=Custom.573x233mm myDocument.pdf

but myDocument.pdf was scaled down to A4.

I use Ubuntu 8.04 with latest hplip (downloaded from it's website) as I thought it'll fix my problem.
