Asked by Jose on 2008-09-21

I was able to install HPLIP without any problems and was able to configure printer. I can scan but cannot print.

Thank you

I also have SELinux disabled

Thank you

Jose

Jose,

Please run:

tail -f /var/log/messages

Try and print--then post the entire /var/log/messages output.

Thanks!

Aaron,

I typed: tail -f /var/log/messages and tried to print something.

There is no output. Not sure what to do

Thanks,

Jose

Aaron,

I have not heard anything from you in a while and am wondering if the issue is still being tracked?

Jose (joseruiz) said : #6

Is anyone taking a look at this problem?

Jose

Jose,

Sorry for the delay. I've tested the DeskJet F4240 on Fedora 9 and it's working okay.

If possible lets try re-installing HPLIP.

Run:
su
rm -rf /usr/share/hplip

and then re-install hplip from our website: http://hplipopensource.com

Hope this helps.

Aaron,

I tried to reinstall the software and now I get this message when I run:

 tail -f /var/log/messages

Oct 13 16:26:59 ruiztravislaw Deskjet_F4200_series?serial=CN84M39190052D: prnt/backend/hp.c 528: dBus Connection Error (Failed to connect to socket /var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket: Permission denied)!

Running hp-check -t gives me:

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to
determine if the proper dependencies are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already
built HPLIP supplied tarball has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode will check both of the above cases (both
compile- and run-time dependencies).
