HPLIP

Is support planned for the Photosmart C4580?

I recently picked up a Photosmart C4580 as part of a purchase bundle. It's a very impressive machine, but I noticed it's not yet listed as supported by HPLIP. I was, however, able to scan via WiFi using the hpaio backend with xsane.

Do you know if there are plans to support this unit, and if so, how soon?

We'll be adding support for this device in the near future. I can't give you a specific eta however it's on our list.

If you are interested in still getting this device to work while its being worked, I've managed to get both print and scan working via wireless on an Ubuntu 8.04 machine using this same device. The Bug ID is 45556, and I kinda answered it myself doing some research, so I posted how i got it working with that bug ID.

Can you help with this problem?
