mac officejet network

I am having troubles loading the gutenprint thingy. i have downloaded it to teh desktop of my mac, but don't know what to do with it after that. Am trying to get my HP Officejet V40 to print wirelessly on the home network. I know it's doable, because I had it set up before. However, I had to do a major update to the laptop and now my settings are all jacked.

HPLIP does not support the mac. For mac drivers and assistance please go to http://www.hp.com
