Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Check types:
a. EXTERNALDEP - External Dependencies
b. GENERALDEP - General Dependencies (required both at compile and run time)
c. COMPILEDEP - Compile time Dependencies
d. [All are run-time checks]

Bought this printer the other day so before i got it I Installed hplip and hplip-gui so it was ready for printer to be plugged in..

Shutdown the computer. Setup the printer with ink and then plugged in via USB.

Turned Computer on -

Linux mint and the hplip-gui did not find anything by its self - .. I went through the setup wtih hplip-gui and it could not find any devices

so i went into System/Printers and that was able to configure the printer.. I can now print all good. However when i open Simple-Scan in the Mint menu it cannot find a Scanner, and when i go to preferences - then -"Scan Source" it is greyed out and there is no options.

The scanning function it self works.. i can copy a page on it directly on the printer

Any idea what i can do to get scanning to work? thanks

Hi,

Your HPLIP version is older and support of device and Linux Mint is added in newer version. Please follow the instruction for downloading and installing the latest HPLIP from the following link.
http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/install/install/index.html

Hope this will solve the problem

Ajay

Hi,

You dont need to uninstall the hplip. The installation will take care of uninstallation of previous hplip packages.

Ajay

Are you successful with "lineart" scans? I am having trouble with this specific HP model in scanning in lineart mode with no image compression. The scanner seems to scan only the top part of the page.
