HP LJ P1505n printing in Ubuntu

Asked by sudeshmv

We have installed HP Laserjet P1505n Printer on Ubuntu 8.04 OS. When we print a file, the file will be printed but the print queue will not be cleared. It shows pending status. So, the next print job will not be printed. Also, it shows a 'Printer error' in the printer icon o desk top.

The linux distribution: Ubuntu 8.04
Printer model : HP LJ P1505n

The content of hp-check -t command is as follows:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 2.8.7)
Dependency/Version Check Utility ver. 14.0

Note: hp-check can be run in three modes:
1. Compile-time check mode (-c or --compile): Use this mode before compiling the
HPLIP supplied tarball (.tar.gz or .run) to determine if the proper dependencies
are installed to successfully compile HPLIP.
2. Run-time check mode (-r or --run): Use this mode to determine if a distro
supplied package (.deb, .rpm, etc) or an already built HPLIP supplied tarball
has the proper dependencies installed to successfully run.
3. Both compile- and run-time check mode (-b or --both) (Default): This mode
will check both of the above cases (both compile- and run-time dependencies).

Saving output in log file: hp-check.log

It looks like there are two problems:
warning: Optional plug-in status: Not installed
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P1505n?serial=KQ13HGH
error: Device not found

Try deleting the printer queue and running hp-setup to configure the device again. If it still doesn't print print run hp-check again and make sure the plug-in is installed. If it's not run hp-plugin and it should install the plugin.

Thanks for your support of HPLIP.

Thanks for your support.

I have done the hp-setup and hp-plugin. It worked fine.

But with hp-check -t command, it shows the following message:

HP_LaserJet_P1505n
------------------
Type: Printer
Installed in HPLIP?: Yes, using the hp: CUPS backend.
Device URI: hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P1505n?serial=KQ13HGH
PPD: /etc/cups/ppd/HP_LaserJet_P1505n.ppd
PPD Description: HP LaserJet P1505n Foomatic/hpijs-ZJS (recommended)
Printer status: printer HP_LaserJet_P1505n is idle. enabled since Wed 27 Aug 2008 02:30:59 PM IST
warning: Optional plug-in status: Not installed
error: Unable to communicate with device (code=12): hp:/usb/HP_LaserJet_P1505n?serial=KQ13HGH
error: Device not found

The printer is working fine but the print queue is not clearing. It shows printing status even after the printing is over.

Thanks
