How do I scan with 48-bit resolution on a Photosmart C6280?

Asked by mghansen256

The Photosmart C6280 is advertised with a bit-depth of 48 bit. When I scan using scanimage, I only get 24 bit images. I could not find an option to change the bit-depth. How do I do that? (I did set compression to none and tried both pnm and tiff as a format.) I did not try hp-scan as I could not find a depth-option for it and also it does not run due to some Python-error.

Greetings,

Mike

Hey Mike,

I can reproduce the error you are getting with hp-scan and I'll look into what's causing that.

For now you should be able to run xsane and then change the setting that looks like a big dot and then a bunch of little dots around it ("Set Scan Resolution") to 4800.

Hope this helps.

Hi Aaron,

scanning at 4800 dpi is not a problem. What I want to do is scan at 48 bit color depth to get images with 16 bit per color instead of 8 bit per color.
