Photosmart C7280: photo mode prints grayscale tinted magenta

Asked by Christopher Smith

Printing up to High Quality works fine. When I go to Photo on photo paper, and print a grayscale image, the printout is not pure black and white, it's tinted magenta.

I'm willing to guess that this is related to the six inks. I couldn't find six color code in Ghostscript. I was able to find code (google) to split Magenta into light and dark magenta (independent of the other colors) and ditto for Cyan. Is the printer perhaps doing that?

Anyway Windows does produce grayscale photos. Any way to do the same in Linux?

If possible please try with the latest HPLIP. If you are still able to reproduce it post back the results and also run hp-check -t and post the output as well.

Thanks.

Ok I upgraded to hplip-2.8.6b and printed a grayscale jpeg and it's fine in both High Quality and Photo. Don't know what I did, or what it was, but it's gone. Thanks.
