HPLIP

Code 5012 during set-up

I see this problem has arisen a few times, but there was no helpful answer for me. I would be very grateful for a solution to my problem. I downloaded hplip 3.16.10 and am running it on Ubuntu 14.04. My printer (hp Color Laserjet Pro M252 dw) won't print after being added in the Device Manager and gives out the code 5012 - Device communication error. Nothing else. I honestly have not the slightest idea what to do with that information and how to fix the problem. Your help would be very much appreciated!!!

Thank you so much for your help! I actually managed to "solve" (?) the problem by updating to ubuntu 16.04. which I hadn't done before. Apparently this works only in 16.04. for my particular printer. I didn't even do anything else, just restarted after the update and I could print.
