HPLIP

automatic install went ok, but after "printer added" error: Unable to lock /home/user/.hplip/hp-systray.lock. Is hp-systray already running?

Ubuntu 16.04 lts. Running automatic installer hplip-3.16.10.run without trouble almost until the end. But after receiving message "Printer hp laserjet 1000 has been added" I got this error msg in terminal:
Error: Unable to lock /home/user/.hplip/hp-systray.lock. Is hp-systray already running?
I don't see any icon in task bar.

Computer is a new HP notebook,cpu i3, ram 8Gb, 1 Tb hdd, Windows 10 in one half and Ubuntu in the other.

My printer HP LaserJet 1000 is old but works perfectly. W10 incompatible with this model. My only hope to continue using it is Linux.

Hi,

Try by removing the lock using following command.
"rm /home/user/.hplip/hp-systray.lock"

Thanks Ajay,
I just ignored the error msg and after reboot printer was recognized, and initialised OK. I was able to print normally, although no icon displayed in menu bar. I can do without it.
