HPLIP auto setup tool won't finish

Asked by Jon Wadsworth

I am having a problem with installing a HP LJ M1319f MFP on an OpenSUSE 11.0 machine. Everything goes well untill the screen where you select the PPD file and hit next to go on. However, hitting the next button does nothing. I ran it in terminal and this is the output when hitting the next button.

\Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/hplip/ui/setupform.py", line 278, in showPage
    self.readwriteFaxInformation(True)
File "/usr/share/hplip/ui/setupform.py", line 787, in readwriteFaxInformation
    d = fax.getFaxDevice(self.fax_uri, disable_dbus=True)
File "/usr/share/hplip/fax/fax.py", line 448, in getFaxDevice
    raise Error(ERROR_DEVICE_DOES_NOT_SUPPORT_OPERATION)
base.g.Error: ('Device does not support operation', 34)

The obvious thing that should happen is it goes to the next step. Maybe I am missing a package? I just downloaded and installed 2.8.6b. Any help is greatly appreciated. Also if others logs are needed please let me know, and I will get them out as soon as possible.

Hey Jon,

Please run:

hp-setup -g

and post the output. It will be rather long so you might want to use http://pastebin.com/.

Sorry in the delay in responding. I don't always have access to this printer. I ran the command requested above and the results can be found here:

http://pastebin.com/m73225f5c

Upon installation there were no missing dependencies, including ReportLab, and no warnings in case that matters.

Thanks again for your help

Is it possible to delete 2.8.6b and try using 2.8.7?

Thanks.

Thanks for you continued help. Installed the new version and ran hp-setup -g as root. Same error occurred at the end. The output for the hp-setup -g can be found at pastebin.com

Jon,

This will be fixed in the next release. The work around for now is:

gedit /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat

Find the section: [hp_laserjet_m1319f_mfp]
Find the item: fax-type=-1
Change the item to: fax-type=0

Save, exit, run hp-setup.

All the best and thanks for your support of HPLIP.

Aaron
